24kt Club In Kingston

A dancer onstage at the 24kt club in Kingston 1992.

The 24kt Club was a club only minutes from where I used to lived in Kingston. It was near Manor Park in the shopping plaza on Constant Spring road. Located upstairs in the shopping plaza, it wasn’t a very fancy place in fact it was more like an empty clothing store with a bar and a stage, than a nightclub. They did manage to get the big name acts and always drew a pretty big crowd.

Outside in the parking lot was a lively scene as well with vendors of all kinds. People would just be hanging out drinking beers or smoking their spliffs, waiting to get in. The club wasn’t open very long, less than a year I maybe, but it was fun while it lasted.  Leroy Sibbles, Papa San and Patra were just a few of the people I saw perform there.
