This was shot when I was down at Greenwich town beach in Kingston last weekend. This last September 11th about 300 tons of sulphuric acid from the nearby Industrial Chemical Company Jamaica Limited storage tank, leaked into the fishing village killing thousands of fish and threatened the livelihood of all the fishermen in the area. The fisherman were not able to fish for a month while the spill was being cleaned up, over 100 people had to be evacuated from the area. The area also suffered since after the spill people were afraid to buy fish from the area fearing contamination. To bring people back to the area and show it’s safe a concert has been organized titled ‘Let’s Go And Have Some Fun On The Beach’, the event is on March 28th.

Update 3/29: The show went off nice and included artists like, Johnny Clarke, Abyssinians, Prince Allah, Philip Frazier, Linval Thomson, The Silvertones, Bob Andy, Sly Dunbar, Tappa Zukie, Ken Bob, Donovan Joseph, Skully Simms, Della Manley, Susan Couch, Familyman, Nambo and many more.

  1. Great post Brian. Hope they get that water cleaned up so the fish and the people can live good once again.
